Once again, KCBlue has done a service by alerting the folks of Raytown to the utter bias of the Raytown Post. For years it has been a mouthpiece for the current incarnation of City Hall, and it is once again betraying its mission to inform the people by going for the Sue Frank slate whole hog.
The voters know that Raytown needs change. For years the Schnucks store has sat vacant. The old First Baptist Church is mouldering and each year the cost of demolition increases. (Right now it is estimated to cost 1.5 million just to tear it down.) The 350 Development is in eternal limbo, with not a clod of earth moved. The City Council uses Executive Session to keep information form the citizens in a way that would make Dick Cheney blush. And the Post reccommends every one of their approved candidates, every time.
Folks, Randy Battagler went off on the Raytown Democratic Association today, but the RDA is not the issue. The issue is that the people of Raytown are sick and tired of seeing their beautiful city marginalized in the metro because City Hall is easily suckered by developers, is too busy fighting ancient personal battles, and does things like put a moratorium on new streetlights.
Here's what we at RP say: If a candidate is endorsed by the Post, vote for someone else. It's the only logical thing to do.

No IHOP'ing for me anytime soon.
So the Grandview IHOP gets itself on Drudge for kicking out a lesbian couple. You can read the details from the KC Star here.
Oh my, one woman kissed another woman on the cheek! Better get out the hoses and split those two ladies up! Western civilization, crumbling apart at the Grandview IHOP!
Of course, the GOP riech-wingers in the Missouri legislature think this is just fine, and have killed anti-discrimination laws over and over again.
So about all we can do (for now) is wave at the lonely IHOP manager as we drive on by.

Awwww....
Somebody clued them in over at the Conservapedia. They no longer confuse the GOP with National Socialism. Fun while it lasted...

Brave, smart, patriotic, and beautiful. In other words, every thing Ann Coulter is not.

KCBLUE has the dope on the "Journalists" at the Raytown Post
PLEASE check out the KC Blue Blog today for an excellent expose on the piece of offal that is the Raytown Post.
The Raytown Post is a GOP partisan rag. The fact that the Raytown Post is the FOX News of Raytown has been patently obvious for years. They have made it their job to eviscerate anyone that does not kow-tow to the vile Sue Frank and her cronies at City Hall.
We have known for months that the Post can't make it's payments to Lee Gray, who sold it to Randy Battagler. The advertising is shrinking into nothing, and most Posts rot away unread in folks' driveway. But those who do bother to read it are treated to the inchoherant ramblings of Bob's Burnt Brain, where Bob Phillips tells us all the Republicans that are fit to vote for.
All I can add to KC Blue is that the sooner the Post folds, the better things will be for Raytown.

DICK Cheney's Totally Bogus Argument
So Dick Cheney is out there like an old-timey record with a skip in it, bleating that timetables just tell the enemy to wait us out. But you know, I gotta think that only the Zombie-right of the GOP is hearing him. The enemy is going to wait us out no matter what we do. To quote that total wanker from CNN, Glen Beck, "here's how I got there:"
The insurgents are evil, but they are not stupid. They know these things:
1. Because we field an (awesome) volunteer military, our manpower resources for a long, unpopular war are limited.
2. The American people, though not in 60's style revolt, grow increasingly disgruntled every day the occupation lingers. They are passively opposing this conflict, which is enough to eventually doom it. (Read Sun Tzu's Art of War.)
3. The cost of garrisoning a hostile populace on the other side of the world for a decade or more will eventually be totally ruinous to the US economy.
So whether we impose a timetable or not, the insurgents realize that the day will come when adverse consequences will force us to leave. No, Cheny's fearmongering argument about the insurgents is totally bogus. They already know that there is a natural timetable, beyond which we will be forced to abandon the disaster we have created in Iraq. They understand that they will have to keep their heads down during the times we send in a "surge" of troops. But at the end of the road, they know that we will someday be forced to leave.
It is morally wrong for us to just dive out and leave the Iraqi people to an even greater hell of our making. (There I part company with many of my progressive allies.) As Powell said, we broke, and now we have bought it. We must find a way to mitigate the damage that will inevitably occur when we can no longer keep up the occupation.
But the leadership we currently have is utterly hopeless for the task. They have no credibility, no imagination, no willingness to seek a real solution. Their goal is eternal war, their tactics derived from the FOX show '24', their cowboy-attitude massively unsuited to the reality of the modern Middle East.
Yes, Dick, I'm talking to you.

Hilarious!
So I'm typing a few random phrases into the "Conservapedia" and I come across the page defining the Republican Party. (Some background: Conservapedia is the right-wing attempt to bypass Wikipedia. It is run by one of Phyllis Schlafly's spawn, and it is, unintentionally I'm sure, a complete hoot.)
The final sentence goes like this: "Recently, in what is seen as a slight change in policy direction, the Republican Party has taken on several of the tenets of national socialism." (Bold font is mine.)
So according to the Conservapedia, the GOP, in a slight change, has taken on a few tenets of national socialism.
That got me thinking... Where have I heard that term before... So I went to where else, Wikipedia.
Here's some of what you get when you type "national socialism" into the Wikipedia seach box: "...Nazis rarely refered to themselves as Nazis, and instead used the official term, Nationalsozialisten (National Socialists)." The rest of the Wikipedia entry is very informative, and unlike the Conservapedia, generally correct.
On second thought, maybe, just this once, the Conservapedia might be more correct than it knows.
You just can't make this stuff up, folks.

You can never go wrong...
...if you remember that the modern conservative movement is filled with nasty, lying, electorally-cheating, testosterone-imbalanced freak shows like Ann Coulter.
Here's a (ahem) woman who never married (not too hard to see why) calling other folks sexually derogatory names. Well, I say keep it up Ann. The Edwards campaign pounced, and is now raising "Coulter Cash." Every time you open your mouth, money pours into liberal bank accounts. Even the other folks in your whack-job fascist movement are cringing as you validate the fact that they are bigoted, mean-spirited, greedy corporatists. (Yeah, Grover, I'm talking about you.)
And by the way, thanks for the campaign ammo. For the next 18 months, Democrats can point to the CPAC conference and remind people what a small, bitter, sad bunch of folks modern "conservatives" have become.

Nace Got Just What She Deserved
Becky Nace got just what she deserved for getting down in the slime with Jeff Roe. Folks like Matt Bartle and Will Kraus kicked in bucks at Roe's beck and call, so they come out losers too. I wonder how much biz Kraus, the legendary "Independent Voice," is going to throw Roe's way in '08. If I'm running the next campaign against Kraus, you can bet that a nice big chummy pic of Willy Boy and Slime-master Roe are going to be hitting the mail boxes, several times.
The local GOP had hoped that they could get one of their own in where they don't belong because of the crowded field. As it turned out, KC is going to have a pretty decent Mayor, no matter how the race goes.
Buh-bye, Becky.
