Recruiting down, way down.

The Army has a really tough time getting kids and their parents to say "Yes" to recruiters. Check this out, and see that the struggle to get new soldiers is getting even harder. Americans support the troops, but they don't want their kids sent into a debacle. They are voting against this war every day by keeping their kids out of it.

War is the acid test of leadership, and George Bush has failed. His incompetence as Commander in Chief has him leading without followers. He has violated every tenet of Sun Tzu's Art of War. Our troops are a precious national asset, and he has squandered them. Most of the GOP candidates have promised to follow his calamitous course.

We can not afford another Republican administration.

For a generation now I have heard the lament that a young man or woman is old enough at 18 to fight and die for their country but not legally purchase or consume an alcoholic beverage here. I say we change all that. No, not by lowering the drinking age to 18 but by increasing the enlistment age to 21.
Let's see how successful military recruiters are when dealing with a young man or woman who has a budding career or young family to think about instead of trolling the hall of our high schools for teens when they are the most likely to cave in to peer pressure or questional "guidance" from adults wearing uniforms.
Maybe we'll get lucky and the drop in voluntary enlistments would bring about a draft. Then maybe people would be shaken out of their current apathy, realize their own collective ass is on the line and begin to seriously protest this war properly.
